Oliver’s Gully Reservoir

Oliver’s Gully Reservoir work was required to reduce the risk of the pipe leaking along the outlet pipe and ensure the safety of the dam and reservoir, including concrete encasement of the outlet pipes to prevent water seeping on the outside of the pipes and filter drains to capture any discharge and monitor the flow of any seepage.

The works included the following:

  • Removal of the existing valves downstream of the embankment.
  • Installation of a 6-metre length of flanged pipework for both pipes at the old valve site downstream of this position.
  • Installation of two new valves 1 x 300mm and 1 x 165mm at downstream end of the flanged pipes.
  • Concrete encasement of the existing and new flanged pipes over 8 metres.
  • Placement of sand filters to drain water from the embankment around the concrete encasement.
  • Placement of rock berm over the sand filter to anchor the sand in position. Connection of the sand filter drainage to the existing drainage system.
